Author's Discount

Basic author's discount is 30%, bulk discounts are available.

Breakeven point

Depends on the book's discount, but it ranges between 400 and 500 (approximation based on external sales of an average length book using their pricing schedule based on a 55% discount. Keep in mind that because of the way in which their payment system is organized a lower discount would actually increase, rather than reduce, the number of copies needed to break even).

Basic retail price

Competitive ($14.95/$9.95 for a 200 pages book depending on the bookstore discount)

Pros*

They chose what they publish

You get good distribution.

Good returns policy.

You can have your own imprint.

Cons*

Their setup fee is fairly expensive.

You MUST have your book edited and unless you have the expertise to do it yourself, or a friend who is willing to do it for you, this is an additional expense that can easily add thousands of dollars to your costs (though you can avoid this by going through your own imprint, or a separate one they offer that does not require this step).
