Indy Publish

THIS PUBLISHER SEEMS TO BE DEAD

Their site remains available and unchanged, but they have been under a moratorium since early 2001. No new titles seem to have been released since then and the information presented here is likely to be severely outdated if they ever emerge from this moratorium..

Non-exclusive

"...in all languages throughout the world...". This creates a somewhat shady area for translation rights, especially given the fact that translations are work-for-hire. Other than that, this contract appears to be fair (for more info on dangerous clauses check out Beware Treacherous Clauses Ahead).

About "Back-in-Print"

Indy Publish offers two "Back-in-Print" packages, one is free, the other one costs $99.00. The difference between these is the fact that the free option forces you into an exclusive contract.

Pros*

Reasonably priced.

Flexibility when it comes to purchasing extras to meet your needs.

Good royalties.

Good distribution.

You control your book's price (and they provide you with a very handy calculator to help you).

Cons*

No manuscript selection.

Low author's discount

There is a minor problem with their contract.

Additional Comments*

They have been under a moratorium since early 2001.
